A "silk painting" is exactly what it sounds like: a painting that has been executed not on canvas or paper, but on fine, tightly stretched white silk. In place of conventional paints -- oils, acrylics, or watercolors -- dyes are used.

Silk is archival in permanence, with incredible light-fastness and life. The unusually vibrant color of silk painting which drew Diane to the media in the first place is a characteristic it acquires through the unique combination of the dye and the shimmering quality of the silk.

Diane has been working in silk for 6 years. She also conducts silk painting workshops for hobbyists, and professional and aspiring artists who are interested in learning new techniques, or just in spending a day experimenting with an exciting and unique medium.
